In case you missed it, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, last year's spiritual successor to the original Budokai Tenkaichi series, is getting a release on Nintendo Switch. The announcement, which was made at July's Partner Showcase, will see the game on Switch, complete with motion controls, albeit at some pretty paltry specs, including 30fps.
Flash forward to today, and a new trailer from Bandai Namco has given us our best look yet at the motion controls, and, as expected, they are absolutely everything you'd want in a Dragon Ball Z game.
From Goku's iconic Kamehameha to the Final Flash of Vegeta and even the Evil Contaminant Wave of Master Roshi, you can use the Joy-Cons to do the moves 1:1, provided you have ample space so you don't hurt yourself, others or your TV.
It's a rather neat addition, and one that will make the inner child in all of us jump with joy. That said, it isn't the first time that motion controls have been added to a Dragon Ball game, though it might be the best version of them.
Listen, We'd Like To All Forget About DBZ On The Kinect
For longtime Dragon Ball fans, you might recall that there was a game on the Kinect that also involved motion controls. However, like many of the titles that appeared on the Kinect, it was a better concept than it was an actual game.
Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on the Wii also had motion controls, though they weren't nearly as involved, but still a fun novelty. If you happened to have a spare GameCube controller on hand, then that was the optimal input play above all. Perhaps third time is the charm with this edition.
